Tessa de Rijk

The art collection of de Rijk is the result of a 14-year investigation that began in art school with the question: “How can I make everything I use myself?” Consider natural pigment paint, brushes, canvases, slats, and other materials. Because she thinks that Materials need to be living and organic, and therefore they demand a human hand. From her barn in the North of Amsterdam she develops paintings on linnen with Indian ink and 3D wall sculptures, with a clear reference to Japanese aesthetics.
