R. Schouten - Crossings 12

Ropp Schouten (Vlaardingen, 1978) is an abstract, minimalist visual artist and painter. He creates minimal abstract works in the tradition of modernism and American minimal art. Schouten lives and works in Rotterdam. The play of symmetry, asymmetry, movement, rhythm, and spatial tension is visible in his work. His geometric compositions of straight and sometimes curved lines and/or planes are simple in form and refer to art historical and philosophical subjects. Reducing things to simplicity and what is not essential.
