Ton Pape
Ton Pape (1916-2003) was born in The Hague and passed away in Rijswijk. He studied at the Hague Academy of Visual Arts. Ton Pape was a versatile artist who painted with oilpaint, drew and worked in watercolors. He did both figurative work, like dune landscapes and city views and very abstract work; geometric abstraction was a big part of his oeuvre. In his art he was mainly looking for a sense of space. He also designed fabrics in the sixties. Some drawings and paintings at OODE show his big interest in etnical fabric patterns. He was a well-known member of Pulchri Studio and exhibited in many places around the Netherlands.
