Ron van der Werf (1958) studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He paints with acrylics and oil on canvas, panel, and paper, often complemented by chalk, pencil, textiles, and cardboard.

His work is characterized by the use of varied whites that transition into shades of brown or blue, glazed in transparent layers of ochre, sienna, and other earthy tones. He creates from an inner drive, seeking certain forms, contrasts, and colors, drawn to specific materials. Only after transferring these elements to the canvas does he begin to see what he truly wants to express. His work is closely aligned with music, the most abstract art form. Material, color, and composition emit a calm that feels both powerful and restorative. His art is marked by unity—a result of his constant exploration and testing of boundaries, driven by a focused intensity that has led to exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Van der Werf’s paintings are part of numerous private and corporate collections in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
